Karl Meissner Dies at 84 Years

Karl Meissner, a resident of this county for about thirty years, passed away last Friday morning at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Minnie Mayer at Prairie Home. He had been in failing health for more than a year and finally succumbed to a heart ailment. His wife died March 16, 1942.

Deceased was born in Germany coming to this country about fifty years ago. He was married in Germany in 1885, and to them seven children were born, of whom three sons and two daughters survive. These children are Richard and Henry, of Omaha, and Rudy, of Kennard and Mrs. May Burgess, of Omaha and Mrs. Minnie Mayer, of Prairie Home.

Karl Meissner, 84, Buried In Omaha

Karl Meissner, farmer in the Kennard and Blair vicinities for many years, died Saturday at the age of 84. Funeral services were held Monday afternoon from Omaha Trinity Baptist church, the Rev. J. Lee Lewis officiating, and committal was at Hillcrest cemetery.

Survivors include a son, Rudolph Meissner of Kennard.

Note: Omaha Genealogical Society has a note there was an obituary 5 November 1943. Vig Files at the Danish American Archives has his death date recorded as November 6, 1943 and his wife Matalie, children Minnie, Mrs. Albert Mayer, Gustave, Henry, Richard and Rudolph. Cannot find a Meissner listed on Find A Grave for Hillcrest. Found a Karl Meissner, age 84, was listed as being buried in Hillcrest; one date said Omaha World Herald evening paper p 28 & 31 on 5 Nov. 1943 and the other said Omaha World Herald morning paper p 17 on 6 Nov. 1943.
