GEORGE BRUSE DIED TUESDAY AT THE BLAIR HOSPITAL

George Bruse, lifetime resident of Washington County and a former business man of the area, died last Tuesday at Memorial Community Hospital in Blair. He was 89 years of age. In recent years he has been making his home at the Good Shepherd Home here.

The deceased was born in this county December 18th, 1881. He was the last of a family of nine brothers and sisters. He attended school in Blair and grew to manhood on the Bruse family farm located six miles northwest of Blair.

His extended business career began in the Washington County Treasurer's Office, first, as Assistant County Treasurer. His banking career began at Washington, Nebr. in 1917, which, indirectly, became the present-day Washington County Bank. Later bank affiliations were in Iowa and he retired from banking in the early 1960's and continuing with the Selective Service Commission until his complete retirement in 1964. Upon the death of Mrs. Bruse in February, 1965, he returned to Blair and made his residence at the Good Shepherd Home.

Mr. Bruse held numerous local civic posts during his business career. He was a long-standing member of the Masonic Lodge and of the Episcopal Church.
