#1-The Enterprise dated 9 Mar., 1922

The death of Mrs. Henrietta Linden occurred early last Saturday morning, March 4, at her home on West Colfax Street. She had been ailing for several months and had been confined to her bed for a number of weeks.

Henrietta Hovendick was born October 22, 1842, at Westphalia, Germany. When about twelve years old she came to this country, first going to Quincy, Ill. and then to St. Louis. Here she was married 1869 to Henry B. Linden and in 1871 they came to Washington County, Nebraska residing two years in the western part of the county.

In 1873 they moved on the farm four miles southwest of Blair which was the home of Mrs. Linden for nearly half a century.

After the death of her husband, October 4, 1887, Mrs. Linden had the responsibility of both mother and father to her children and during those years when finances were low, making a bare living and keeping the children together was a great undertaking. That she did successfully and that she was a wonderful mother to children and old friends know full well.

In November 1920, Mrs. Linden with her daughter, Anna and oldest, John, moved to Blair from the farm as the son was seriously ill and unable to carry on the work there. They had lived here but a few weeks when the son passed away leaving the mother and daughter alone in the new home.

The children who are left to mourn the loss of a good mother are Anna, Frank and William, all of who live in Blair and who were present during the last illness of their mother to render such service as they could to make her last days as comfortable as possible.

She leaves also a brother, John Hovendick of Omaha and a sister Mrs. Reka Meyer of St. Louis, Mo. Funeral services were held on Monday afternoon, March 6, at the German Lutheran Church, of which denomination she had been a member since 14 years of age. Rev. Wolters of Arlington, officiated and burial was made in the Blair Cemetery.

Mrs. Anna Overman of Omaha, who was a niece of the deceased attended the funeral services.
