MRS. FRANK LINDEN PASSES AWAY - FUNERAL WEDNESDAY

Last Sunday, November 16, 1919, Mrs. Frank Linden passed from earth to the realms Beyond, after several months of suffering, surrounded by her family and near relatives.

For several years Mrs. Linden had been in delicate health and it was a gradual giving away physically and mentally that resulted in death. Mrs. Linden was one of the most gracious, kindly ladies of this city and was dearly loved by a multitude of friends. An ideal wife, a devoted mother, an affectionate daughter and sister, she was all that –and more. Her home life is spoken of as being especially sweet and pure and her home was her world.

Martha Von Lanken was born at Arthur, Ill., on Nov. 1, 1882, and was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George Von Lanken, who came to Blair in 1899. She was confirmed in the German Lutheran Church in 1897 and has been a constant member of that body ever since.

On June 23, 1907, she was united in marriage to Frank B. Linden and two children were born to them. A daughter, Margaret, age 6, and a son, Bertrand, age 4. These with her mother, Mrs. Geo. Von Lanken, her sisters, Mrs. Henry Lorenzen, Mrs. Carl Kolterman, Mrs. Henry Bruse and Miss Margaret Von Lanken an adopted brother, Arlington Von Lanken, besides the husband and many friends, are heartbroken over her untimely death. There are many willing hands and kind hearts to offer assistance and sympathy which will go a long way toward softening the grief of her loved ones, but, after all, words can not fill the places made vacant by the loss of a wife, daughter, mother and friend.

Private funeral services were held at the home on Wednesday at 1:30 and at the Trinity Lutheran Church at 2 p.m., Rev. Braunersreuther preaching the sermon in German and English. Interment was made in the Blair Cemetery.

Mrs. Frank Linden passed away at just noon last Sunday from a dementia she had been suffering from for some time past, brought on by extreme nervousness. A short service was held at the family residence on West Grant Street at 1:30 today and Rev. M. Braunersreuther conducted the funeral service at Trinity Lutheran Church at 2 o’clock. The day was a beautiful one and the attendance and the abundance of flowers showed something of the high esteem in which Mrs. Linden was held by all. She was a faithful and devoted member of Trinity Church and will be greatly missed by its pastor, as well by the relatives and friends.

Martha Von Lanken was born in Arthur, Ill., Nov. 1st, 1882, and was therefore just past 37 years of age. She came to Blair with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. George Von Lanken in April, 1899, and this has been her home ever since. She was married to Frank B. Linden at Trinity Church, June 23rd, 1907, by Rev. E. Eckhardt, who was pastor here at the time. Two children were born to them, Margaret, aged 6, and Bertrand, aged 4. They are exceptionally bright, winsome children and will greatly miss the love and tenderness that only a mother can give.

Her father died two years ago last May and she has now found a hearty welcome by him on the other side, for the children all had a great affection for her father. She leaves her mother, four sisters, Mrs. Henry Lorenzen, Mrs. Henry Bruse and Margaret, who live at home with her mother. Also a half-brother, Arlie, who is in Uncle Sam’s Navy, stationed now at Bremerton, Wash. A sister, Emma, died nine years ago, and her only brother, George, in infancy.

The neighbors acted as pallbearers, Harry Morris, Frank Cunningham, George McBride, Chas. Reeh, Harry Sappenfield and Vern Gustason. The bereaved husband and family have the sincere sympathy of a host of friends.
