Chris Andersen Dies at Age 74-Rites here Today For Former Blair Farmer Who Died Sunday

Funeral services for Christian Andersen, 74 of Omaha, who was found dead Sunday evening at his apartment in Omaha, are being held at 1:30 p.m. today at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Arthur Gustason, followed at 2 p.m. by rites at First Lutheran Church. The Rev. H. C. Jorgensen will officiate, and burial will be in the Blair Cemetery.

Mr. Andersen, born in Denmark, came to American as a young man and farmed many years in the Gardner School vicinity near Blair. He retired and moved into Blair. He retired and moved into Blair six years ago, and went to Omaha two years ago.

His wife (Anna Marie) died seven years ago. Surviving are four daughters, Miss Edna Andersen of Omaha, Mr. H. H. Foley, of Omaha, Mrs. Fred (Minnie Karen) Young, Mrs. Arthur (Martha) Gustason of Blair; and two sons, H. F. (Hans Frederick) and A. J. (Andrew Jacob) of Madera, California.

Christian Andersen of Omaha, formerly of this county, died Sunday at the home of his daughter in Omaha. He was born in Denmark, December 17, 1866, and when about 17 years of age came to America and settled in the northwest part of this county.

On December 11, 1888, he was married to Anna Marie Fredricksen, the marriage vows being taken at Admah, then a thriving business point. She passed on seven years ago.

For thirty-seven years after their marriage they farmed, moving to Blair in 1931, and two years ago he went to Omaha to make his home with a daughter.

Seven children survive him: H. F. Andersen, Glasco, Montana; Mrs. H. H. Foley, Omaha; Mrs. Arthur Gustason, Blair; Mrs. Fred Young, Decatur; A. J. Andersen, Maders, California; and Edna Andersen of Omaha.

Funeral services are being held this afternoon at 1:30 from the Gustason home and at 2:00 o'clock from the First Lutheran church with Rev. Harold C. Jorgensen officiating and interment, under the supervision of Chris K. Bendorf, mortician, will be made in he Blair cemetery.

Among those present from out-of-town, besides members of the immediate families, as funeral services were held here last Thursday for Christian Andersen, 74, of Omaha, formerly of Blair, were: Mr. and Mrs. Herman Jacobsen and Harry Andersen, all of Craig; Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Andersen and Mrs. Dena McBroom, all of Hooper; Mr. and Mrs. Louis Petersne and Mrs. Alvis Petersen, all of Herman; Mr. and Mrs. Miller Andersen, Fremont; Miss Lillie Andersen, Grand Island; Mr. and Mrs. John C. Andersen, Mr. and Mrs. Leon Andersen and Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Walling, all of Omaha; Mrs. Marvin Squires, Decatur; and Mrs. Roy Kilger of Springfield.
