Ruby Mae (Klindt) Forsberg, 75

Ruby M. Forsberg, 75, of Apache Junction, Ariz., died April 2, 1998, at the Hospice of the Valley, Desert In-Patient Care Center in Mesa, Ariz.

A memorial service is Saturday at 10 a.m. at First Lutheran Church in Blair. Burial will be in the Blair Cemetery.

She was born at Bennington on Nov. 13, 1922.

Ruby was always active in church work, girl scouts, cub scouts and boy scouts.

In 1963 she lost her left leg to cancer, but this only slowed her down for a short while.

Ruby and John bought out Cope’s Restaurant in 1969, changing the name to John’s Café and ran it for three years. In 1972, John’s health failed and was told to go to a dry climate. After selling their restaurant, they moved to Apache Junction, Ariz., in August 1973.

Shortly after moving to Apache Junction they helped start Epiphany Lutheran Church and Mrs. Forsberg was the first treasurer for seven and one-half years.

She went to work for the Apache Junction Chamber of Commerce in September 1974, where she was Office Manager for 13 ½ years, retiring in 1988.

She and John enjoyed traveling and camping in their motor homes covering the U.S. and part of Canada. They also belonged to the Superstition Sams Camping Club. She and John were hosts at Lyman Lake State Park in eastern Arizona for five years.

Survivors include her husband of 51 ½ years, John; daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Randy Drenkhahn; son and daughter-in-law, Tim and Shirley Forsberg; grandson, John W. Forsberg of Millington, Tenn.; granddaughter, Sandy Rose Drenkhahn; and a host of relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by one son, Jeffrey Roy in 1970, her brother Kenneth and her parents, Henry and Minnie Klindt.

Memorials may go to the Hospice of the Valley in Mesa, Ariz., and First Lutheran Church at Blair.
