Joyce Donaldson peacefully passed away on February 8, 2019 after a 20-year battle with Alzheimer’s disease at the age of 91. She had been a resident of The Good Shepherd Lutheran Home since August 2002.

Joyce was preceded in death by husband Thomas Donaldson, son Lance Donaldson; brothers Leland, Howard and Ronald Gilbert. She is survived by son Robin Donaldson, Daughter-in-law Debbie Donaldson, Grandson Ryan Donaldson; brothers Leon, Jerry and Leon Gilbert; sisters Thelma Smith, Dolores Baker and Carol West.

Joyce was born in Decatur, Nebraska to Mabel and Cecil Gilbert. She was a long time resident of Blair and Fremont, Nebraska and graduated from Blair High School in 1945. Her life spanned multiple career fields including telephone operator, drug store attendant, medical records librarian and airline food preparation services. These job opportunities took her to Nebraska, Colorado, Massachusetts, California and Washington.

She was married on 4 occasions with the majority of those years spent with Thomas Donaldson of Blair, Nebraska until his September 1990 passing in Montclair, California.

She enjoyed bowling, motorcycles, pottery making, card games and was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles.

A memorial service will be held at Good Shepherd Lutheran Home from 1100 to 1200 on Friday, February 15, 2019. Graveside ceremonies will follow at the Blair Cemetery. In lieu of flowers please make a donation to the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America at http://www.alzfdn.org.
