#1-20 July, 1933 - The Enterprise

MRS. JESSE COULTER CALLED

Sarah Kathryn Coulter was born Jan. 9th, 1854 in Croton, Iowa; passed from this life July 12, 1933, aged 79 years, 6 months and 3 days. At the age of six her mother died, and she was taken to live with her grandparents in Kentucky throughout her childhood. In 1870, in company with her father, she came to DeSoto, Nebraska where she lived for the next four years. At the age of 20 she was united in marriage to Jesse Coulter at Magnolia, Iowa. Ten years of her married life were spent in Missouri, five in Nebraska City, Nebr. and almost the entire remaining years were spent in eastern Nebraska, mostly in the vicinity of her last home near Arlington. This union existed for fifty nine years, and to them were born three sons, Earl C. of Arlington, Nebr., William O. of Logan, Iowa and Clarence E. who died at the age of 18; and four daughters, Mrs. Nellie Fairchilds of Osmond, Nebr; Mrs. Bertha Grover who died at the age of 31 and Cora and Minnie who died in infancy. An adopted daughter, Mrs. Bertha Bunner of Coeur d'Alene, Idaho was reared as her own daughter.

Mrs. Sarah Coulter was ever a patient and devoted mother, a faithful wife, and a kind and generous neighbor. Lacking in her childhood many of the advantages with which her children and grandchildren were blessed, she nevertheless made a contented and happy home for her husband and children, a home which was ever a credit to the community in which she lived. She made many friends along life’s pathway. In addition to her husband and children, she leaves to mourn her passing 14 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren, two brothers, Alonzo Bruner of Blair and Edward Bruner of Omaha.

It was her wish that her grandson, Merl Grover, preach her funeral sermon, and this request has been complied with.

Funeral services were held at two o’clock Friday afternoon from the Methodist church with her grandson, M. B. Grover of Omaha officiating, assisted by Rev. Booher, the Methodist minister. Interment was made at the Kennard cemetery. Six grandsons acted as pallbearers.
