Kevin R. Hoffmeier, 49, died March 16, 2009, at Alegent Health Community Memorial Hospital in Missouri Valley, Iowa.

Funeral services were Friday, March 20, at Zion Lutheran Church in Denison, Iowa. Interment was at Crawford Heights Memory Gardens in Denison.

Kevin Ray Hoffmeier was born Nov. 24, 1959, in Denison, Iowa, to Ralph and Marion Didier Hoffmeier. He grew up in Denison, and was baptized at St. John Lutheran Church, Buck Grove, and later confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church, Denison, in 1974.

After graduating from the Denison Community School in 1978, he worked for Jim Graham.

On March 10, 1979, he was united in marriage to Laurie Chandler. The couple had two daughters.

Mr. Hoffmeier worked for Jack Hawn in Dunlap, Iowa, before owning and operating a service station in Buck Grove. Then he worked at Big A Auto Parts and then at Art's Auto Parts, later known as Car Quest, in Blair.

He met Deborah Stout and together they purchased Sinclair Fuel and Shine Station in Logan, Iowa. On April 24, 1998, he married Deborah Stout and the couple made their home in Magnolia.

The Hoffmeiers owned and operated the D & K Kwik Shop in Dow City and the Sinclair Fuel and Shine Station in Logan. They also owned the Can Redemption Center in Logan.

He was a loving and caring husband, father, grandfather, son and brother who enjoyed spending time with his family. He was especially fond of their dog, Oscar, who was an extended member of the family. He enjoyed cars and tractors and was a proud member of AA for 24 years. He helped others in need and sponsored several in the association. He collected miniature die-cast cars, license plates, dealer plates and calendars.

He is survived by his wife, Deborah; four daughters: Tiffany, Rebecca, Justine and husband, Bradley, and Jodi; four grandchildren; mother, Marion; three brothers: Byron, Loren, and Ronald and his wife, Cindy; other relatives and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, Ralph, and one brother, Dennis.

Huebner Funeral Home of Denison was in charge of arrangements.
