Shelton, Nebr., Aug. 23. – J. F. Lippincott, one of the early settlers in this section, died at Independence, Mo. Mr. Lippincott moved from here to Independence about twelve years ago. The body was shipped to Shelton for burial. Mr. Lippincott was a veteran of the Civil war, having served four years, and also got a taste of prison life when he was captured at the battle of Stone river and confined for ninety days in “Libby.” He lived in this community for nearly thirty years and at one time owned considerable land in Adams, Buffalo, Hall and Gosper counties.
