Buchardt, Nels Emile, 74 Died 28 June 1973 (date calculated) Burial in Orum Cemetery Published in Pilot Tribune on 2 July 1973 NELS BUCHARDT BURIED AT ORUM SATURDAY, JUNE 30 Services for Nels Emil Buchardt, 74, were held Saturday, June 30, 1973, at the Immanuel Lutheran Church of Orum. Pastor Joseph Myers officiated the 2:00 service. Organist was Mrs. Jack (Opal) Jensen and soloist was Mr. Jack Jensen. Nels passed away Thursday morning at the Memorial Community Hospital. Nels was born on a farm near Orum, Nebr., on March 12, 1899. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. He was united in marriage to Metta Marie Wolsmann on February 23, 1922, in Blair. He has lived and farmed in Washington County all his life. Nels and Meta Buchardt were married for 52 years and celebrated their 50th Anniversary in 1971. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother. He is survived by his wife, Meta, one daughter, Dorothy (Mrs. George)Schmidt of Omaha; one son, Norman of Blair; sister, Emma Erikson, Blair; 7 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. The Bendorf Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements with burial in the Orum Cemetery.
