She suffered a stroke of paralysis about a month ago and though she rallied from it to some extent her strength and vitality failed rapidly afterward. Charlotte Coleman Fitch was born near Richmond, Virginia, Oct. 13, 1828 and died at the goodly age of 93 years 1 month and 6 days.

She moved with her parents to Lawrence County, Indiana when about eight years old. Here, she grew to womanhood and was married to James F. Fitch in 1848. Into his home came seven children, five of whom are living.

During the days of the Civil War, the husband followed the flag and fought for his country and for four years the wife cared for six children and suffered the privations of those strenuous days.

They came to Nebraska in 1875, and after a short residence at Tekamah, moved to a farm near Herman, after which they moved to Herman and conducted a general store. Here Mr. Fitch died in 1895.

Since that time Mrs. Fitch has found a home with her daughters, Mrs. Charlotte Roberts of Tekamah and Mrs. Gordon of Craig.

She was a member of the Baptist Church having joined when a girl of 16 years. Her membership has been for many years in the church at Herman. Her grandfather was a minister in the Baptist Church. Her life and spirit testified to her faith. It was a benediction to go to the home and talk with her. She was loved and respected by all who got to know her.

Her sons and daughters who ? today are Mrs. Isabel Dor? of Council Bluffs, Iowa, W. R. Fitch of Payette, Idaho; John T. Fitch of Herman, Mrs. Charlotte Roberts of Tekamah; and Mrs. J. D. Gordon of Craig. Also there are 26 grandchildren; 41 great grandchildren; and 9 great-great grandchildren surviving.

To few is it given to love so peacefully to the sunset of the day of life. In the hush and cool of the evening she went gladly home.
