Thomas Wallason
Died on 5/5/1899
Buried in Fort Calhoun Cemetery

Pilot 11 May 1899

Thomas Wallason who was buried here in the Ft. Calhoun cemetery May 5, ’99 was one of our personal friends. For a number of years he was a hard working, quiet citizen, fond of his home, his family and things beautiful. The fine native sweet mias hedge on our premises he found for us in the timber near his farm. We understand that he begged piteously in the Omaha Hospital for another sight of his family when he learned that the end was near. We could not go to the funeral but from our office we counted thirty-eight carriages following the remains to the cemetery.

Pilot 8 May 1899

The friends in Calhoun of Mr. Wallasen were greatly shocked and grieved to hear of his death at an Omaha hospital Wednesday morning. He had been suffering some weeks from a cold which brought on serious trouble with his head, which growing worse, after an operation was the cause of his death. He leaves a wife and eight children to mourn his loss. He had resided in or near Calhoun for a number of years and had many friends who express sincere sympathy for the family. The funeral services were held at the home east of town Friday afternoon, conducted by the German Lutheran minister from South Omaha, and the remains were laid to rest in the Calhoun cemetery.
