Thomas Andersen Rites Sunday

Thomas P. Andersen, an old settler of this county, died last Thursday, September 4th, at the home of his daughter, Mrs. James W. Nielsen, at the age of 81 years, 7 months, and 17 days.

Deceased was born in Denmark in the year 1860 and when 21 years of age came to this state. For a number of years, he was employed as a mason in Omaha where he was married. In the early nineties he settled in this county on a farm west of Blair and he continued farming until 1917 when he retired and moved to Blair.

Since that time, he has made Blair his home. In 1937, his wife passed on. He has since that time, lived mostly in the home in Blair, making occasional visits to his children.

Four children survive Mr. and Mrs. Andersen: Kilrain Andersen of Herman; Mrs. J. W. Nielsen, Thorvald Andersen and Robbie Andersen, all three of Blair. There are also ten grandchildren, one great-grandchild and nephew who reside in Minnesota.

Mr. Andersen was a man of high moral character and he had many friends in the county gained through his long residence here. He was a member of the Danish Brotherhood and was confirmed in the Lutheran faith before leaving Denmark.

Funeral services were held from the First Lutheran Church on Sunday afternoon with Rev. H. C. Jorgensen officiating and burial under the direction of Chris K. Bendorf was made in the Blair Cemetery.

The pallbearers were his grandsons, Ivan Andersen, Lloyd Nielsen, Marlin Taylor, Russell Suverkrubbe, Elmer Wulf and Kenneth White.
