One of Blair’s leading citizens, Harry H. Brown passed away, Sunday afternoon, after a long illness. He had been in gradually failing health since being in a automobile accident a number of years ago.

Deceased was born July 15, 1882 in Fremont where he grew to manhood. He graduated from Fremont High School and later attended the Fremont Normal and State University at Lincoln.

He was passionately fond of music and was a member of a Fremont mandolin club and of the glee club at the university. Wherever he was he was an attendant of church and assisted in the music. At an early age he became a member of the Congregational Church of Fremont and when he became a resident of Blair, he transferred his membership to the local church. He was always helpful and active in the church and at his death held the highest office the church cold offer, that of deacon.

He was not only interested in church affairs but was also interested in civic matters of the community and served as a member of the local school board and also as a councilman from its ward.

For his life’s work he chose the contracting and drilling of deep wells and the installation of water systems. This caused him to become a student of geology and he was for years one the of the best authorities of this line in the state. He was thoroughly posted on the underground water, both of Nebraska and Iowa. His work brought him in contact with men over a wide area and his square dealings and his genteel manner of meeting his clientele made him many friends.

In 1928 he organized the Well Drillers Association of Nebraska and for three years served as its president. Later he serviced as treasurer for the National Association of Well Diggers.

He was a member of the masonic organization and Order of the Eastern Star and was a past Associate Patron.

In his passing Blair loses a citizen worthy of the highest respect and the heartfelt sympathy of the community goes to the bereaved family. Of the immediate family he leaves his wife and four children, Mrs. Delmas Lowe of Bly, Oregon, Mrs. Howard Fairchild of Omaha and Herbert and Ralph of Blair. He also leaves two grandchildren, one brother, Louis D. Brown and four sisters, Mrs. Grace Noyes, Misses Mary Ellen, Alice, and Edith all of Lincoln.

The funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at 2 p.m. from the Methodist Church with Rev. Rex Moe of Fremont officiating and interment under supervision of Chris K. Bendorf was made in the Blair Cemetery where the Masonic in charge.

Pallbearers at the service were Ralph Fairchild, Dr. W. F. Hein??, Ray Krogh, Walter Gutschow, Henry Jensen, and Frank Thompson.
