Vrbicky, Elizabeth "Betty" Betty Vrbicky, 82 of Omaha, NE (formerly of Clarkson, NE) died Thursday, August 21, 2014, in Omaha. Betty Vrbicky was born December 1, 1931, in Schuyler, NE, to William and Anna (Bos) Karel. She graduated from Clarkson High School and on August 18, 1949, was united in marriage to Lumir "Vrby" Vrbicky in Clarkson. The couple lived in Omaha for a short time before returning to Clarkson where they joined her parents in running the family grocery store and dry goods business (Karel Store). In 1967 they purchased the business from her parents and operated the store until the early 1990's. She moved to Omaha to live with her daughter Kaye where she has resided since, working with Kaye in her interior design business. Music was a very important part of Betty's life. She was a member of the VFW Auxiliary and Church Women Auxiliary. She enjoyed dancing, spending time with her children, grandchildren, and especially her great-grandchildren. Betty is survived by daughter, Christine Vrbicky-Benedict of Omaha, NE; son, Dr. Keith (Karyn) Vrbicky of Norfolk, NE; daughter, Kaye Vrbicky of Omaha; son, Corrie (Jacquie) Vrbicky of Omaha; 11 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; sister, Elaine Roggenstein of Palm Beach Garden, FL. Betty was preceded in death by parents, William and Anna Karel; husband, Vrby Vrbicky; infant brother, William Karel; sister, Irma Owens; best friend, Lorraine "Rosie" Landenklos. MEMORIAL MASS OF CHRISTIAN BURIAL Monday, August 25 at 10:30am at SS Cyril and Methodius Catholic Church in Clarkson with Fr. Rod Kneifl celebrating the Mass. Interment will be in the Clarkson Catholic Cemetery. VISITATION Sunday from 4-6pm, with a 6pm Vigil Service, all at the church.
