Arlington Woman Is Suicide-Mrs. Henry Pyles Takes Poison-Infers No Motive For Act

Death came to Mrs. Henry Pyles of Arlington last Saturday morning as the result of suicide by poison. Her husband found her dead in bed when he returned from making his usual morning trip on his milk route after being absent from the home for only a little over an hour. She had given no hint of committing the act and when the husband left the home she had urged him to hurry back, saying they would have an early dinner and drive to Fremont in the afternoon.

Several notes, it is claimed, were found expressing her wishes as to the funeral arrangements which, with her sudden death, proved a shock to the husband and relatives that will never be forgotten.

As Maude Alice Laughlin, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Laughlin, she was born in Elwood, Nebraska, on February 3, 1888, and with her parents, moved to Herman in 1894. In December, 1908, she was married to Henry Wilson Pyles. They had always made their home in Washington County, living ten years near Arlington, and the past eight years in Arlington, just at the edge of town where they conducted a mile route and farm.

Besides her husband she is survived by two brothers, John Laughlin of Seattle, Washington; and Charles Laughlin, of Herman; also four sisters, Mrs. Jane Huntley and Mrs. Hattie Tackett, both of Crawford; Mrs. Alta Snell of Bloomington, Ohio; and Mrs. Grace Mueller of Hayward, California. Funeral services were held on Tuesday afternoon at the home with the Rev. Simpson officiating.
