Private funeral services for Bernita I. Buhr of Valhaven Colonial Manor in Valley and formerly of rural Fremont were held December 31, 1987, at Moser Memorial Chapel in Fremont.

She died December 27, 1987, at Methodist Hospital, Omaha.

Rev. Lawrence Sundell of St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Valley officiated.

Burial was at Prospect Hill Cemetery in Elkhorn. Pallbearers were Brad Lewis, Ronald Boardman, Louis Bertlesen, Terry Buhl, Lee Nielsen and Blane Matusmoto.

Bernita was born September 5, 1910 in Waterloo to Oliver and Ella (Wassum) Tucker.

She lived in Clarks and Waterloo before graduating from Waterloo High School.

Bernita married Carl C. Buhl September 5, 1928 in Waterloo. They farmed east of Fremont until 1965, when they retired. Her husband died January 19, 1986, and she moved to Valley.

She was a member of St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Valley.

Bernita is survived by son Carl D. Buhl of Valley, daughters Mary Lou (Mrs. Fred) Nimerichter of Aurora, Colorado and Joyce (Mrs. Ed) Lewis of Valley, and Carol Capps of Aurora, sister Marjorie Sharpe of Seal Beach, California, 9 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and one son, John R. Buhl.

Memorials should be directed to St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Valley or the Valley Rescue Squad.
