Dorothy M. Fox, 72

Dorothy M. Fox, 72, died at her home in New Sharon, Iowa, on Aug. 31, 2006.

Funeral services were Monday, Sept. 4, at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in Pender, with interment in Pender’s Rosehill Cemetery.

Dorothy M. Novak was born July 14, 1934, at the family homestead near Rosalie to Ferdinand and Adela (Fabry) Novak Jr.

On Jan. 23, 1950, she married Fred N. Pedersen.

She worked for a poultry factory where she was recruited by Safeway Stores to work in their meat department. She enjoyed a long career with Safeway, working up to manager of the store in Onawa, Iowa.

On Dec. 8, 1984, she married Wayne Fox, and then moved to New Sharon, where she spent the remainder of her life. She loved living and working on the farm, especially tending to her yard and flowers. She enjoyed traveling, occasional trips to the casino, and spending time with her family.

She is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Linda and Leonard Putnam, Bonnie and Dwight Petersen, Barb Cass, Rita and Howard McManigal of Blair; step-children and spouses, Gene and Kathy Fox, LeAnn and Ray Hasley; nine grandchildren and their families; one great-granddaughter; five step-grandchildren; one step-great-granddaughter; brothers and sister-in-law, Leroy and Joyce Novak and Gary Novak; sisters and brother-in-law, Helen Volle, Lillian Radtke, Marcella and Wilbur Fuchser, Frances Dorau; sisters-in-law and husband, Joyce Novak, Betty Koenig, Marilyn and Larry Johnson; brother-in-law and wife, Allan and Harriet Fox; and her mother-in-law, Dorris Fox.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Wayne Fox; four brothers Richard, Lester, Edwin and Louis Novak; and a sister, Jennie Kinning.
