George K. Fox, 95

George K. Fox, 95, died Jan. 15, 2005, at the A. J. Merrick Manor in Fremont.

Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 20, at the Church of the Nazarene in Fremont. Interment will be 1 p.m. Thursday in the Blair Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 1 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 19, at Ludvigsen Mortuary in Fremont, with the family receiving friends from 2 to 4 p.m.; and will also be held at the church Thursday, one hour prior to services.

George K. Fox was born June 17, 1909, in rural Douglas County in the area known as Florence to Grant and Edith (Hines) Fox. He grew up in the Florence area, graduating from North High School.

He worked for AAA Motor Club for 15 years in Omaha, where he managed the underwriting department. He also worked for the Mead Ordnance Plant for 3 ½ years, the Hoover Vacuum Company and at one time, owned a doughnut shop.

On Nov. 18, 1931, he married Juanita Miller in Omaha. She died in 1955. On Feb. 14, 1957, Mr. Fox married Adolphia “Dolly” Wood.

After retiring, Mr. and Mrs. Fox moved to Round Lake, Minn., in 1970; in 1982, they moved back to Nebraska, settling in Fremont.

Mr. Fox was well-known in the area as a hobbyist. He had amassed more than 11,000 matchbooks; license plates from every state and abroad; pens and pencils; key chains; and AAA membership emblems. He spent many hours working crossword puzzles.

He was a member of the Fremont Church of the Nazarene.

He is survived by four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren, all of whom live out of state; two step-sons, Delbert and Nadine Blair of Omaha, and Jack Blair, also of Omaha; six step-grandchildren; 8 step-great-grandchildren; a nephew, Robert Hanzlik of Omaha; and special friends, Jim and Martha Bokowski of Waterloo.

He was preceded in death by both of his wives, and his only son, George Jr.

Memorials are suggested to the Church of the Nazarene.
