Dr. William S. Hammond after a long illness of more than a year passed away at 4:30 a.m. Friday. He had been bedfast since last December. Deceased was born on December 18, 1864 in Waterford, Ontario, Canada. He grew to manhood. He studied for a veterinary and was graduated from the Toronto Veterinary College. He later came to Nebraska and on September 15, 1891 he was married to Miss Mertal Witter in Wayne, Nebraska. They made Wayne their home for sixteen years and then moved to Blair where he established a practice.

Dr. Hammond was widely known in this county and both he and his wife have made many warm friends who respect them highly and who sympathize deeply with Mrs. Hammond in her bereavement.

He leaves beside the wife, two brothers, one of Lansing, Michigan, and one of Perth, Ontario, Canada, and two sisters, one of La Salette, Ontario, and one of Olmstead, Ontario, Canada.

Funeral services were held Sunday at 2 o’clock from the Bendorf Funeral Home, under the auspices of the Masonic organization which he had been a member for the past 45 years. Interment was made in the Blair Cemetery.
