ELZA KING BURIED AT HERMAN SUNDAY

MASONIC LODGE NO. 222 HAS CHARGE OF SERVICES

Elza King, a resident of Washington county for more than a half a century and an active farmer during the greater part of that time, died at his home at Blair on Friday, June 17, after a serious illness. At the time of his death he was 69 years. 11 months and 21 days.

Born at Huron, Indiana, Mr. King came to Nebraska when he was about 18 years old, and made his home at Harrisburg. He was married there to Laura A. Sylvis on September 22, 1888. To this union five children were born, two of whom preceded him in death.

After two years at Harrisburg, Mr. and Mrs. King moved to Herman where they resided for about 22 years. They then moved to DeSoto and after a four residence there they moved to Blair, where the family has made its home continuously with the exception of a short time in Missouri.

Mr. King was an active member of Masonic Lodge No. 222 of Herman until his health failed. He was a past master of that organization, which had charge of the funeral services. The rites were held at the home in Blair with Rev. W.H. Jackson, pastor of the Methodist church officiating. Interment was in the Herman cemetery.

Mr. King is survived by his wife, one son, Ralph James of Omaha, two daughters, Mrs. May de Mott of Lacynge, Kansas, and Mrs. Sylvia Verplank of Valley Junction, Iowa. Also surviving him are two brothers, Homer and Albert, of Tekamah, and the grandchildren, Ralph James, Jr., and Betty James, of Omaha, and Jeanette Ann de Mott of LaCynge, Kansas.

Elsa King was born at Huron, Indiana July 8, 1862, and passed away at Blair, Nebr. June 17, 1932 at the age of 69 years, 11 months and 21 days.

He came to Nebraska when about 18 years of age, and made his home in Harrisburg. He was married there to Laura A. Sylvis Sept. 22, 1888. Five children were born into the home, two of whom preceded him in death.

After two years in Harrisburg, Mr. and Mrs. King came to Herman where they resided for about 22 years. Then, after four years at DeSoto, they removed to Blair where they have made their home for fifteen years with the exception of a short time in Missouri.

He was an active member of the Masonic Lodge No. 222 of Herman until his health failed. He was a Past Master of that lodge.

He leaves his wife, one son, Ralph James of Omaha, two daughters, Mrs. May DeMott of LaCygne, Kans., and Mrs. Sylvia Verplank of Valley Junction, Ia.; two brothers, Homer and Albert of Tekamah, Nebr., three grandchildren, Ralph James, Jr. and Betty of Omaha, and Jeanette Ann DeMott of LaCygne, Kans.

The funeral was held Monday at the house, sermon by Rev. Walter H. Jackson, and interment was made at Herman in charge of the Masonic Lodge.
