Julius Frederick Steffen was born in Germany January 25, 1881, and at the age of nine years he came to the United States settling with his parents on a farm west of Fort Calhoun.

On February 25, 1914 he was married to Anna Bushelmann, and to this union two children were born. His wife passed away October 18, 1916, and until 1927 he made his home with his mother, when he was married to Miss Nell Mae David, and to this union one child was born.

He passed away on Thursday of last week at the age of 58 years, 7 months and 5 days. Surviving him are his wife, three sons, Emmett, Frank and William of Blair and two sisters, Mrs. Henry Henricksen of Blair and Mrs. William Planck of Fremont.

Funeral services were held last Saturday afternoon at the Bendorf Funeral Home, and interment was made in the Fort Calhoun cemetery with Rev. Ralph P. Rasmussen officiating.

Julius Steffen, 58, years of age, passed away this, Thursday morning at 1:30 o'clock.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, at 2:00,at the Bendorf Funeral Home.

BORN IN GERMANY, LONG-TIME COUNTIAN DIED EARLY LAST THURSDAY

Julius F. Steffen, for over fifty years a resident of Bair and Washington County, died at his home, 310 West Street, early Thursday morning, August 31. He was 58 years old at the time of his death.

Mr. Steffen was married in 1914 to Miss Anna Bushelman, who bore him two children. After her death in 1918, Steffen made his home with his widowed mother for nine years.

In December of 1927 he was united in marriage to Miss Nell Mae David, who survives him. One child was born to this couple.

In addition to his wife, Steffen is survived by three sons, Emmett, Frank and William of Blair, two sisters, Mrs. Henry Henricksen of Blair and Mrs. William Planck of Fremont. Two sisters preceded him in death.

Funeral services for Mr. Steffen were held at 2 o’clock Saturday afternoon at the Bendorf Funeral Home, the Rev. Ralph P. Rasmussen officiating. Interment was in Fort Calhoun cemetery.
