Hosea Wilson Dies Suddenly Of Heart Attack

Prominent Farmer and Land Owner, Native of County

Hosea Wilson, prominent farmer and extensive land owner, died suddenly Monday evening of a heart attack. He had not been well but was able to look after his farming interests and his sudden death was a shock not only to his family but to the entire community.

Deceased was born January 14, 1876 on the farm where he died and where he spent his entire life. He was educated in the rural schools and grew up a farmer which profession he followed all his life.

His wife died a short time back but he continued his farming operations staying on the old home farm. He was married in 1901 to Miss Anna Bross and to them one child, Frank Wilson, was born who survives.

The parents of the deceased came to this county in 1869, the year Blair was founded. They came by the covered wagon route landing here with but little money and in the fall of the year. Their first home was a dugout and next was a log house. By perseverance, hard work and thrift they emassed a fortune which fell to the deceased who in turn has added to it.

Both father and son were lovers of purebred stock and the farm was known for its fine horses, hogs and cattle.

Hosea’s son and only child, Frank, lived near and worked with his father and the three grandchildren and one great grandchild were Hosea’s greatest delight and his affection was showered without stint on them.

In his last years he lived with but one aim in life and that was with an eye to the future of his family.

Hosea had a host of friends who will miss him. He was of a congenial nature always with a joke for every occasion. HE was a man with no bad habits and he lived his life as he thought best and in so doing made himself a place in the community that will be hard to fill.

Funeral services are being held this Thursday afternoon at 2 o’clock from the Methodist church in Blair with Rev. A. W. Clarke of Schuyler officiating and interment will be made in the Blair cemetery.
