MRS. CHRISTINA LAMP DIES AT AGE OF 53

HUSBAND AND TWO CHILDREN SURVIVE WELL-KNOWN WOMAN

Mrs. Christina K. Lamp, wife of a well known Washington county farmer and daughter of a prominent pioneer family, died in an Omaha hospital Tuesday, evening, June 21, at the age of 53 years, five months and 21 days. Surviving her are her husband, Emel Lamp, one daughter, Mrs. Helen Cornelius and one son, Richard.

Funeral services were held this (Thursday) afternoon at 2:30 from St. John's Lutheran church at Bennington. Interment was made in the cemetery near that town. Many Blair residents were among those who gathered for the final rites.

Mrs. Lamp was born Christina K. Kahnk and was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George Kahnk, both of whom were living in Blair at the time of their deaths. Mrs. Lamp is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Mark Lamp, prominent pioneers in the southern part of the county. Both the elder Lamps and the Kahnks homesteaded south of Blair in the general vicinity of the Wranch school and Mrs. Christina Lamp and her husband were friends from childhood. Immediately after their marriage they moved to the original Lamp farm and have resided there since.

Mrs. Lamp had scores of close friends and acquaintances throughout the county and her death marks the passing of another of the sturdy , thrifty second-generation farmers in Washington county that carried on the burden of transforming this region from a vast untilled and unproductive expanse of land into the agricultural paradise it is today.

COUNTY PIONEER CALLED

Many Washington county people were shocked to hear of the recent death of Mrs. Emil Lamp, residing in the Dornacker school district nine miles south of Blair. Mrs. Lamp was well known in this community, and has been a resident of the county throughout her entire life.

Christina Kahnk was born January 1st, 1879 in Blair, Nebraska. She has always lived in Washington county, most of her life being spent on the farm. On Nov. 2, 1904 she was united in marriage to Emil Lamp, and they immediately began their life work on the farm where they have always lived in the southern part of the county.

Her life has been one of sincere devotion and faithfulness to her family and those about her, and she has always been held in the highest esteem by those with whom she was most intimate.

Complications resulting from faulty teeth set in about six weeks ago, from which she was never able to rally. She was taken to the Covenant hospital in Omaha where the best of medical attention was given her. On June 21 she passed away.

She leaves to mourn her, besides her husband, a son, Richard and a daughter, Mrs. Helen Cornelius of Bennington. Also three grandsons, Calvin Keith and Kermit Cornelius, four sisters, Mrs. Mary Schneider of Little Falls, Minn., Mrs. Anna Suverkrubbe of Bennington, Neb., Mrs. Emma Luschen of Ruthton, Minn. and Mrs. Martha Luchen of Wellfleet, Neb. Two brothers also survive her, Wm. Kahnk of Orchard Neb. and Geogre Kahnk of Ruthton, Minn.
