MRS. JULIUS PEAK PIONEER SETTLER DIED SUNDAY

SETTLED IN COUNTY IN 1866. WAS NATIVE OF INDIANA.

Mrs. Julius Peak, a resident of Washington County since 1866, passed away at the home of her son, Roy Peak, northwest of Blair on last Sunday at noon.

Deceased, as Viola Thompson, was born in Bono, Indiana, March 19, 1853 and with her parents came to Washington County and settled on a farm north of Blair where she grew to womanhood.

She was married on April 18, 1875 to Homer Simonds to which union, one daughter was born, Mrs. Bertha E. Viele, of Omaha.

Following the death of Homer Simonds she was married in Omaha to Julius Peak on February 5, 1879. To this union Roy W. and Charles O., both of Blair and Mrs. George Grabe, of Fremont survive. Mr. Peak had two daughters, Mrs. Lenora Bender, of Oregon and Mrs. Ida Johns of Blair, both deceased. She also leaves two sisters Mrs. Luella Kellogg and Mrs. William Saunders, both of California and one brother, Emery Thompson, of Clinton, Iowa.

Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at 2 o’clock from the Christian Church and interment was made in the Blair Cemetery.
