MRS. A. PETERSEN EARLY SETTLER PASSES AWAY

EARLY RESIDENT OF THIS COUNTY FOR 62 YEARS, DIED THURSDAY

Death came to Mrs. Anna Marie Petersen, an old settler of Washington County, at 10:20 o’clock on Thursday morning, June 29, at the Methodist Hospital in Omaha. She was nearly eighty-eight years of age at the time of her death, the past sixty-two years having been spent in this county. She had been in poor health for a number of years.

Anna Marie Andersen was born in Vigerslev, Denmark, on August 23, 1851, to Anders and Christine Jensen Andersen. She was united in marriage to Nels Petersen of Falster, Denmark, in the year 1869, and they came to America immediately, settling in Washington County, Nebraska, where they have since made their home.

To this couple twelve children were born, four of whom passed away in their infancy, and a son and daughter, William Jens and Anna, dying in later years. Surviving to mourn the departure of their mother are A. P. Petersen of Blair, Carl Petersen of Cedar Bluffs, Niels Petersen of Pomona, California, Mrs. Chris Jensen of Omaha, and Mrs. Lydia Anderson of Herman. She also leaves several grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Funeral services were held last Saturday at 2:00 p.m. from the Campbell Mortuary and interment was made in the Blair Cemetery.
