Charles Ireland Death Reported

Charles Ireland, one time Blair laundry operator, died Monday in Alhambra, California, according to word received by relatives here Tuesday. His daughter, Mrs. Frank H. Stricklett, accompanied by her brother, Daniel Ireland of Norfolk, left Tuesday for California to attend the funeral. Mrs. Stricklett’s son, Hillard, went with them.

Mr. Ireland, brother of O. M. Ireland of this city and an uncle of Void Ireland, is survived by his wife, two sons and three daughters. An obituary will be published next week.

Obituary Of C. W. Ireland, Age 74

Charles W. Ireland, 74, one-time Blair laundry operator, an account of whose death April 1 at Alhambra, California, was published in The Pilot Tribune last week, was born September 4, 1865, at Lynn, Iowa.

At the age of 17 he joined the Christian church, and during the rest of his life was an active member of that denomination. In 1897 Mr. Ireland was married to Miss Laura Phillips of Blair. Seven children were born to this union, five of whom survive: Mrs. Della Stricklett of Blair, Mrs. Emily Geiselman of Alhambra, George Ireland of Los Angeles, Daniel Ireland of Norfolk, Nebraska, and Laura Barneke of South Gate, California. Miller Ireland of Blair is a brother. Four grandchildren also survive.

During his young manhood, Mr. Ireland was a farmer in both Iowa and Nebraska. For 18 years during later life he was a railroad carpenter, retiring on pension at the age of 70. In the fall of 1937 he moved to Los Angeles.
