Bonnie Glee (Henderson) Frahm, 97

Bonnie was born to Erwin and Irene Henderson on Nov. 29, 1921, at their home near Harris Grove Creek, south of Logan, Iowa. Bonnie was greeted by four older sisters, Lois, Donna, Nellie and Dorothy. Darlene and Jack joined the Henderson family a few years later. She attended country school at Harris Grove and told stories of crossing a fence to cut across the pasture to get to school and sometimes being chased by a bull. She also shared of Circuit Preachers coming to Harris Grove Church from time to time. While growing up, the family also lived around Magnolia and in Missouri.

Bonnie graduated from Woodbine Normal High School in 1939. She taught in country schools around Jacksonville, Woodbine, and Logan communities, with the last being Harmony Country School south of Logan.

A cousin introduced Bonnie to Everette Frahm at a dance and then the courtship was on! Bonnie and Everette were married in Sioux City, Aug. 28, 1942. Together they had four children; Dennis, Linda, Jill and Trace. They farmed in several communities including Shelby, Walnut, Jacksonville, and Logan. In 1958, they purchased a farm northwest of Logan in the Loess Hills area. Because of a house fire in 1966, the couple moved to Dunlap and finally settled in Blair, that would finally be “home.”

Bonnie loved nature and was a major gardener. She raised all types of vegetables and canned them and the fruit from the orchards. One of her favorite things was flowers, and she certainly had a green thumb, as she had varieties of all types of gorgeous blooms from early spring to late fall. She was also a seamstress and made clothes for her girls and herself. Music was always a part of the Frahm home and Bonnie and Everette attended dances nearly every weekend enjoying the big band and polka music.

One of her biggest loves was reading. Throughout her life, Bonnie found time to read and learn all topics, she just loved reading. In her later years, she would read several books a week!

Bonnie came to know the Lord as her personal Savior and she spent time reading her Bible growing closer to the Lord and praying for each family member and friends by name every day.

Bonnie was preceded in death by her parents, Erwin and Irene Henderson, husband, Everette in 2008; grandson, Michael Hammitt and his wife, Terry in 2008; siblings, Lois (Everett) Rice, Donna (Ted) Janssen, Nellie (Ledger) Charleson, Dorothy (Kenneth) Thompson, Darlene (Virgil) Ball and brother Jack (Peggy) Henderson.

Bonnie is survived by her children, Dennis (Jeanette) Frahm, of Northfield, Minn., Linda (Mike) Thomas of Missouri Valley, Jill (Larry) Hammitt of Minden, and Trace (Claudette) of Walnut; nine grandchildren, and 14 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held Friday, April 5, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Logan Memorial Chapel in Logan. Funeral services will be at the Christian Church, at 11 a.m. in Logan.

The family invites everyone to a time of lunch and fellowship at the church immediately following the service.
