Carolyn Sue (Dow) Thomas was born on August 30, 1934, to Bernard “Bud” and Grace (Smith) Dow near Logan, Iowa. She was raised near Mondamin and graduated from Mondamin High School in 1952. Carolyn then worked for Aetna Insurance in Omaha. In July of 1953, Carolyn married Rolland Thomas at the Methodist Church in Mondamin. The couple always lived and farmed in the Mondamin area. Carolyn worked for the Clerk of Court at the Harrison County Court House. She also sold jewelry for Sarah Coventry from 1973-1977.

Carolyn enjoyed fellowship at the Mondamin Church of Christ and Mondamin Fellowship Chapel over the years. She enjoyed needlework and crocheting. As a young girl she enjoyed the family vacations to Okoboji. She was even hired by another family in Okoboji to help take care of their family. Carolyn loved going to the Iowa State Fair. Carolyn loved her family most of all, and she especially loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Carolyn died on Wednesday, February 27, 2019, at Country House Assisted Living in Council Bluffs, Iowa at the age of 84 years, 28 days and five months.

Carolyn was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Gail Dow. She is survived by her husband, Rolland Thomas of Mondamin, Iowa; son, Barry Thomas of Mondamin, Iowa; daughter, Laurie and husband Ron Bell of Mondamin, Iowa; two grandsons, Dustin and Cole; step-granddaughter, Paige Johnsen; two great-grandsons, Parker and Lane; sister, Tana Jones of Mexico; and many other relatives and friends.

Pall Bearers: Barry Thomas, Ron Bell, Dustin Bell, Cole Bell, Parker Miller, Chad Wilson

Final Resting Place: Harris Grove Cemetery, rural Logan, Iowa.

Following the committal service, the family invites you to the Mondamin Community Center for a time of fellowship and a lunch.
