Mrs. Ella Sue Pruner Is Dead

Former Kennard Resident, 76, Succumbs in California Monday

Kennard residents received word Tuesday of the death of Mrs. Ella Sue Pruner, 76, the preceding morning in California, where she had been visiting. Her home was at Cortez, Colorado. She was the widow of Dr. W. H. Pruner, sr., once a prominent Kennard physician.

With her husband, Mrs. Pruner came to Kennard early in 1890, shortly after their marriage in Virginia. Dr. Pruner died in October 1915, and his widow continued to reside in Kennard until 1927, when she went to Cortez to make her home with a son, Gifford.

She had been seriously ill last spring, but apparently was recovering. A former member of the Christian church, she had recently been an attendant at the Methodist church in Cortez.

Surviving are three sons, Dr. Orin Pruner of California, Dr. A. Caskie Pruner of Omaha, and Gifford of Cortez. There are three surviving daughters, Mrs. Opie Harrison and Mrs. Buena Vehrs, both of Cortez, and Mrs. Cleo Anderson of Lincoln: 1 grandchildren and a number of more distant relatives in Virginia.

The body arrives in Lincoln today. Burial may be in the Kennard cemetery, although no definite word has been received.
