Sarah E (Welsh) Higley
Died on 11/2/1902
Buried in Blair Cemetery

Blair Courier 6 Nov 1902 The public was taken very much by surprise last Monday morning to hear that Mrs. S. E. Higley was dead. She was sick only since Sunday a week ago with pneumonia and up to last Sunday morning she seemed to be steadily improving, but during the day she grew rapidly worse, death relieving her of all suffering at 10:20 p.m. Rev. A. E. Marsh conducted the service at the home of her son, Harry, at 4 o’clock Tuesday afternoon. Miss Sarah E. Welsh was born in Waukesha, Wis., in 1840 and was married to Mr. Thos. Higley, January 7, 1858, and to them were born four sons, Harry, of this city, Vernon, of Davenport, Ia., Gould, who died here about two years ago, and Morris, who died when only six years old. She came with her husband to this county in 1862 and settled at Cuming City, where Mr. Higley was postmaster for some time. When Blair started they moved here and Mrs. Higley conducted a millinery store from that day to the day of her death. She leaves two sisters and two brothers besides two sons to mourn her sudden demise. She was a member of the Mystic fraternity and Daughters of Rebecca.
