EMMA J. HARTUNG DIED APRIL 11th IN FREMONT

Mrs. Emma J. Hartung, 101-year-old resident of Arbor Manor senior citizen's home in Fremont, died there Tuesday, April 11th. She was a native of the Arlington area.

Mrs. Hartung was born August 18, 1876 at Arlington and for many years resided in the Fontanelle area. She and her husband were engaged in farming. She had lived in Fremont since 1942.

She was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Fremont and was the oldest living member of the church at the time of her death.

The deceased was married May 4, 1898 to Gottlieb Hartung, the wedding taking place at the St. Paul's Church at Arlington. Her husband preceded her in death, having died January 8th, 1948.

Three sons and a daughter have also died. They are Obert, Ervin, Merle and Loretta. Six daughters survive: Mrs. Agnes Hilgenkamp of Fremont, Mrs. William (Meta) Lesher of Newport Richey, Florida; Mrs. James (Frieda) Dorsey, Omaha; Mrs. Russell (Viola) Hoover, Napa, California; Mrs. Jack (Verna) Newlon, Lincoln; and Mrs. Gordon (Lorraine) Spangler of Arlington.

There are also 19 grandchildren, 42 great-grandchildren and 10 great-great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held Saturday morning, April 15th at Trinity Lutheran Church in Fremont with Pastor Donald E. Levenhagen officiating. Burial was made in St. Paul's Lutheran Cemetery, north of Arlington. The Moser Memorial Chapel was in charge.

Pallbearers were Morris Hilgenkamp, Michael Newlon, Howard Lesher, Gary Spangler, James Hartung and Paul Hartung.
