Henry Hovendick, 18 year old son of Mrs. Viola Hovendick and the late Louie Hovendick, was fatally injured when a 22 rifle in his automobile discharged as a left rear wheel came off of his auto on May 1st. He had attended the junior-senior prom the night preceding the accident and was scheduled to graduate from the Tekamah High School this month.

The accident took place north of Tekamah. County Coroner Fred Jack ruled the death an accident.

He was born at Blair, December 16, 1946. Funeral services were held Tuesday, May 4th at the First Baptist Church in Tekamah. The Rev. Oliver A. Englesen officiated. Burial was in the Tekamah Cemetery.

Pallbearers were George Wood Jr, Garry Petersen, Roger Austin, Dale Sells, Robert Weatherly Jr., and Wayne Saville.

Survivors beside his mother, Viola Hovendick are a brother, Earl L. of Mesa, Arizona and a sister-in-law Mrs. Ria Hovendick of Tekamah. His father and a brother LeRoy preceded him in death.
