Sterling Maurice Mehrens, 52, former Blairite, died last Wednesday at the state home in Beatrice, where he had been a patient. He was the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Maurice Mehrens of Blair, and his father was the Washington County sheriff during the 20’s.

The body was brought to Blair, where services were held at the Bendorf Funeral Home Saturday at 1:30 p.m. Officiating at the rites was the Rev. Ralph Kersey of the Christian Church. Burial took place in the Blair cemetery.

Mr. Mehrens was born Jan. 25, 1902, eldest child of Maurice Mehrens and Ella Reed. He spent most of his life in Blair. The father died Sept. 15, 1944, his mother Mar. 25, 1946.

Surviving him are one brother, Milford Mehrens of Richmond, Va., and two sisters, Mrs. Sam Fraley (Helen) of Blair and Mrs. Maude West. Milford flew here from Virginia to be present for the funeral.
