Roger Henry Bundy, 65, longtime Tekamah businessman, died Monday evening, February 8, 1988 at the Memorial Community Hospital in Blair.

Roger was born on March 8, 1922, at Gibbon to Frederick F. and Nora M. (Deaver) Bundy. He grew up in the Gibbon area and attended Gibbon High School.

Roger attended Airplane Mechanic School in Lincoln and was employed in Buffalo, New York, prior to entering the Army Air Force, where he served from 1942-1945, including service in France and Italy during World War Two.

He was united in marriage to Doris Wendt on June 29, 1946 at Lincoln.

Roger then attended Jewelers Training School in Newcastle, Pennsylvania and opened Bundy's Jewelry in Tekamah, where he was in business for thirty-nine years.

Roger served on the Tekamah City Council (two terms), the Tekamah Housing Authority Board, and was a member of the First Burt County Museum Board.

He was a member of the American Legion, the Nebraska-South Dakota State Jewelers Association, A Past Patron of Tekamah Chapter No. 131, O.E.S., a member of Tekamah Lodge No. 31, AF &AM, and Mackey Chapter No. 24 AF & AM.

Among Rogers hobbies were woodworking and gardening.

Survivors include his wife, Doris Bundy of Tekamah; two sons, Terry Bundy and wife, Connie of Lincoln, and Randy Bundy and wife, Carol, of Yutan; two daughters: Susan McAllister and husband Mike, of Tekamah and Linda Bundy of Omaha; six grandchildren; three brothers: Loren Bundy of Oakland, Carl Bundy of Kenesaw, and Curtis Bundy of Apache Junction, Arizona; two sisters, Margaret Schiers of Gibbon, and Iris Smith of Zachery, Louisiana.

Roger was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers: James, Martin and Paul Bundy.

Funeral services were held Thursday , February 11, 1988, at the Tekamah United Methodist Church with Rev. Marion H. Knoell officiating. Masonic Rites were conducted by Tekamah Chapter No. 31, AF & AM. Interment was in the Tekamah Cemetery with Graveside Military Rites by the Tekamah V.F.W. and American Legion Posts.

Arrangements were handled by the Hamel & Peck Funeral Home in Tekamah.
