Funeral services for Harold Bunz, 78, of Blair, who died Thursday, April 3, 1986, as a result of injuries suffered in a car accident near Fremont, were held Saturday, April 5, in St. John's Lutheran Church in Bennington. The Rev. Norman Schroeder officiated and burial was in Flower Hill Cemetery.

Memorials may be given to St. John's Lutheran Church.

Bunz is survived by sons, H. Gene Bunz of Blair, Leland Bunz of Bennington; brothers Robert of El Cajon, California, Ted of Bennington, Donald of Omaha; one sister, Alice Bunz of Bennington and one grandson.

Hadan Golden Mortuary of Bennington is in charge of arrangements.

SERVICES HELD FOR HAROLD BUNZ

Funeral services for Peter Harold Bunz were held at St. John's Lutheran Church, Bennington, on April 6, 1986 with Dr. Norman Schroeder officiating. Miriam Sukraw was organist and Ken Sukraw sang "Beautiful Savior" and "I Know that My Redeemer Lives."

Casket bearers were Ron Wulf, Roger Wulf, Carl Puls, Delbert Braesch, Melvin Tiedje and Paul Hansen. Interment was in the Flower Hill Cemetery with Hadan-Golden Mortuary in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Bunz, son of Peter and Gerturde (Roesler) Bunz, was born January 2, 1908 at Bennington.

He was baptized on April 26, 1908 by the Rev. P. Gehrke. On April 13, 1924 he confirmed his faith at St. John's Lutheran Church. In November of 1984 he transferred his church membership to St. John's from First Lutheran of Blair.

On March 8, 1932 he was united in marriage to Anna Puls. Two sons were born to this marriage. The family lived at Bennington until 1944 when they moved to a farm north of town. Later they moved to Elkhorn and resided there about ten years. In 1957 Mr. Bunz moved to a farm six miles north of Marshall Nursery on Highway 91.

Mr. Bunz was an industrious man who worked hard and long days. He frequently visited the Bunz John Deere Implement business of his son Lee.

On April 1, he had been at the Bunz Implement shop and left to go to Fremont. On his way there he had an auto accident causing injuries which later caused his death early Wednesday morning, April 2, at St. Joseph Hospital in Omaha. He attained the age of 78 years, three months and one day.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Peter and Gertrude, and one brother Clifford Bunz.

Mr. Bunz in survived by two sons, H. Gene Bunz of rural route Blair, and Leland Bunz of Bennington, daughter-in-law, Kathy of Bennington, grandson Scott of Bennington; one sister, Alice Bunz of Bennington; three brothers, Robert Bunz of El Cajon, California, Howard (Ted) Bunz of Bennington and Donald Bunz of Omaha; nephews, nieces, other relatives and many friends.
