RITES HELD TUESDAY FOR PETER SOLL, AGED BLAIRITE ACTIVE IN MANY CIRCLES IN COUNTY

Peter Soll, a resident of Blair for over thirty-two years, passed away at 1:30 a.m. Sunday after an illness of one week’s duration.

Deceased was born in Germany where he was reared to manhood. He came to America in 1871 when a young man of sixteen years and in 1882 he was married to Miss Emma Rathmann and immediately went to farming near Bennington, Nebraska. Here they resided until 1892 when they moved to Scribner living there until 1907 when they moved to Blair.

In 1876 the deceased, with others, organized the Schleswig Holstein Verein which still flourishes. Of all those early members Mr. Soll was the only charter member left. It was in the hall in the southern part of the county built by the Verein that he and Mrs. Soll took the nuptial vows and it was in this same hall that their golden wedding anniversary was celebrated in 1932.

Besides the aged wife he leaves three children, Mrs. Ernest Dau of St. Francis, Kansas; Ludwig Soll and Mrs. Zenos Smith, both of Blair. He also leaves eight grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. Three sisters and one brother also survive him. They are Mrs. Lizzie Wulf and Mrs. Maggie Voss of Blair and Mrs. L. Klindt of Canada and John Soll of Omaha.

Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at 2 o’clock from the Methodist church with a minister of the Lutheran faith in charge and interment was made in the Blair Cemetery.

At the funeral ceremonies of Peter Soll on last Tuesday the Schleswig Holstein Verein membership attended in a body to do honor to the last charter member of their order.
