Robert Elwood “Woody” Haney Sr., 92, of Omaha, NE, formerly of Watertown, SD, died of natural causes on May 9, 2019, in Omaha, NE.

A funeral is scheduled for Tuesday, May 14, 2019, at 10:30 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Watertown with Reverend Elmer Brinkman officiating. Visitation will be on Tuesday for one hour prior to the service at the church. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Woody’s life.

Burial will be at Mount Hope Cemetery, Watertown, SD.

Robert Elwood Haney was born on October 31, 1926 in Watertown, SD, to parents John and Ruth (Griffith) Haney. Mr. Haney was a great family man and a loving father. He married Marian in 1947 and the couple had two children. Woody was a social, active man who was deeply involved in dancing for the majority of his life.

Woody is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Cindy and John Surma, of Rapid City SD; his son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Donna Haney, of Blair, NE; granddaughter, Heidi (Steve) Barajas; grandson, Christopher (Megan) Surma; and three great grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Marian and his two sisters.
