Everette E. Frahm, 88

Everette E. Frahm, 88, of Blair, died May 1, 2008, at Good Shepherd Lutheran Home in Blair after a lengthy illness.

Funeral services were Monday, May 5, at Country Bible Church in Blair. Interment was in the Shelby (Iowa) Memorial Cemetery.

Everette Eldon Frahm was born May 5, 1919, at the farm home north of Shelby, Iowa, to George and Vinnie (Brockman) Frahm. He loved working with his dad, riding his pony and playing baseball. He had a love for polka, big band music and he loved to dance.

On Aug. 28, 1942, he married Bonnie Henderson in South Sioux City. The couple farmed at Shelby, Walnut and Jacksonville before moving to a farm north of Logan, Iowa.

Mr. Frahm was known for his love of people and his ability to always make them laugh. He loved his Allis-Chalmers WD 45 and was sure it was the best tractor ever made. One of his favorite stores was about his Model T Ford and plowing through mud. If there was a storm, he was always determined to plow through the mud or snow, just to prove he could. The weather never kept him from a polka dance. His family remembers one of his best sayings as being: “Never retire. If you do, you’ll never have another day off”.

He is survived by his wife, Bonnie, of Blair; sons and daughters-in-law, Dennis and Jeanette of Northfield, Minn., and Trace and Claudia of Walnut, Iowa; daughters and sons-in-law, Linda and Mike Thomas of Missouri Valley, Iowa, and Jill and Larry Hammitt of Minden, Iowa; eight grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
