PIONEER DIES AFTER SUFFERING STROKE

The funeral of Nels Jaspersen, who died Sunday following a stroke of paralysis, was held yesterday afternoon from the Danish church, the services being in charge of Rev. Nielsen. Mr. Jaspersen was born in Denmark December 16, 1853, coming to America in 1881 and settling near Elk City where he was married in 1883. With Mrs. Jaspersen he moved to Pleasant View farm south of Blair in 1884, where Mrs. Jaspersen died in 1913. Surviving are: Lars Jaspersen, Mrs. Carl Hansen, Mrs. P.C. Petersen and Otto Jaspersen, of Blair, Nebr., Mrs. Lars Jensen of Red Oak, Iowa, Jens Jaspersen of Des Moines, Iowa, and Jasper Jaspersen of Hemmingford, Nebr., besides three brothers and eleven grandchildren. A son, Nels, died in 1913 and a daughter, Christena, died in 1910. Among those from abroad to attend the funeral was a sister-in-law, Mrs. Lars Jefferson, who lives in Escanaba, Mich. Mr. Jaspersen was a well-known and highly respected citizen of this community and the bereaved children have the sympathy of all in the loss of their father.
