Dorothy J. Severson, 75, of North Bend Nebraska died Friday, Dec. 24, 1999, at Alegent Health Memorial Hospital at Schuyler, Nebraska.

Dorothy Downing was born April 3, 1924, at Stuart, Iowa. She came to North Bend from Iowa in 1943. She previously had been employed at Nebraska Ordnance Plant at Mead, Birchwood Manor at North Bend for 12 years, Western Homes of North Bend for eight years and Blevins Popcorn Plant at north Bend for eight years.

She was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 8223 Auxiliary of North Bend.

She married Robert H. Severson May 3, 1946, at Marysville, Kansas. He died Jan 1, 1996.

Survivors include: a son, Bob (and wife, Lori) Severson of North Bend Neb; four daughters, Barb (Mrs. Jim )Anson of Bellwood, Neb., Judy (Mrs. Donnie) Slosser of North Bend, Neb.; Donna Severson of Omaha, Neb.; and Patricia (Mrs. Joe) Holeman of Ames, Iowa; a brother, Bob Downing of Lynn Ma.; seven grandchildren, Crystal, Michael and Adam Severson, Cynthia Slosser, Christina Loeffler, Kim Vitek and Jared Dannelly.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Otho and Meryl (Rorah) Downing; her husband, a son, Curtis, and a sister, Betty Feller of Dexter, Iowa.

The funeral was a t 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at United Presbyterian Church in North Bend with the Rev. Don Canady officiating. Visitation was at Moser memorial Chapel in north Bend and one hour before service Tuesday at the church. Burial will be in Memorial Cemetery in Fremont, Neb. Memorials were established to the Dodge County Humane Society or VFW Post 8223 of North Bend, Neb.
