Ronald J. Lau, 71 of Omaha, passed away June 5, 2019 surrounded by family. Funeral services will be held at 10:30am Monday, June 10, 2019 at Sinai Lutheran Church, Fremont, NE. Burial will follow in Blair Cemetery, Blair, NE. Visitation will be held at Campbell Aman Funeral Home on Sunday, June 9, 2019 from 5:00 to 8:00pm.

Ronald John Lau was born on January 3, 1948 in Johnson, NE to Wally and Marie Lau. Throughout his childhood they moved frequently due to his father serving different churches. Ron graduated from High School and Junior College in California and returned to Nebraska to where he earned his Bachelor’s degree from Midland College and taught elementary school for 33 years in Fremont, NE. During this time he earned a Master’s degree in Guidance and Counseling from the University of Nebraska at Omaha. He inspired and encouraged many kids through his love of sports by coaching soccer, basketball, track, and gymnastics. Towards the end of his teaching career, he found a way to fulfill his long-held desire to serve the Lord by becoming a Parish Ministry Associate in the Lutheran Church. He served at First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Rising City, NE for the past 16 years. His giving and caring spirit was valued by many. His love for his family was unconditional. He married the love of his life, on May 22, 1971 and they had three children.

He is survived by his wife Barbara Juul Lau; children and grandchildren: Karyn, Sienna and Dreyson Lomax of Claremont, CA; Scott (Katherine), Regan and Sawyer Lau of Woodbury, MN; and Mark (Alice), and Sofia Lau of Firth, NE; brother Randall (Nelly) Lau; and sister-in-law Jeannie Juul. He was preceded in death by his parents.
