Rev. G. M. Couffer, 79, formerly a Methodist minister at Arlington, died at Arlington Friday after a long illness. Rev. Couffer was a veteran of the Civil war and had not been preaching for twelve years. He was born March 24, 1845, at McCoonesburg, Pa., and lived in the east until after the war when he took up the ministry in the middle west. For forty years he served in different pastorates among them the Arlington church. He made Arlington his home after retiring. Surviving are his wife and five children: Wilma, at home; Mrs H. P. Walber, Greenley, Colo.; Mrs. G. L. Hughes, David City; Mrs. William Reckmeyer, Arlington; and Mrs. A. T. Hutchinson, Norfolk. Funeral services were held at the home of his daughter, Mrs. William Reckmeyer, of Arlington, Monday at 4:00 o’clock, Reverend William officiating.
