PIONEER RESIDENT OF ARLINGTON IS CALLED BY DEATH

W. D. Badger, 78, for many years an Arlington resident, died at his home at Arlington Monday afternoon, death following an illness lasting over seven months. For the past several weeks he has been bedfast.

Mr. Badger was born in Michigan in October, 1845. In November, 1880, he moved to Arlington, and was a pioneer merchant there. He was associated in the early history of Arlington, being one of the founders of the First National Bank. He was also a partner of L. B. Shepard in the grain business in the early days.

He was married at Niles, Mich., on March 17, 1869, to Miss Rita Meade who survives him. Two sons, Postmaster J. C. Badger of Arlington, O. D. Badger of Hemingford, and two sisters, Mrs. Charles Loomis of Santa Barbara, Calif., and Mrs. Clifford Knox of Detroit, Michigan, also survive.

Funeral services were held this afternoon at one o’clock, Rev. Frank Williams of the Methodist Episcopal church officiating. Interment was made at Arlington cemetery, with the Masons in charge of services at the grave.

Funeral services for W. D. Badger were conducted at the family residence on Thursday afternoon by Rev. Frank Williams assisted by Rev. J. E. Aeschbacher. Interment was made in the Arlington cemetery, the Masonic lodge of which Mr. Badger was a member for many years, had charge of the same which was accompanied by all the impressive rites of the order. Out of town relatives and friends who attended the funeral were Horace and Perry Korell, of Plaineview, Mrs. Clyde Lowery, of Lincoln, Mrs. J. C. Cook, of Fremont, and Otis Badger of Hermmingford.
