ARLINGTON NEWS

Dr. F. L. Newcom passed away December 31, 1924, after a long illness. At an early age he came to Arlington, Nebraska with his parents and this has since been his home. After graduating from the Arlington high school, he entered Midland College at Fremont, Nebraska and took a short business course. The next two years were spent preparatory work in the State University, Lincoln, then entered the Medical college, Omaha, from which school he graduated with honors after four years of conscientious work. Immediately after his graduation he became associated with Dr. R. A. Davies and was a very successful physician and surgeon. He belonged to the Phi Rho Sigma Fraternity, was a past master Mason, ex commander of the American Legion, a member of the Men’s Club and also a member of the First Congregational church. On Friday morning his body lay in state from nine to eleven o’clock and at two o’clock a private funeral was held from the house, only relatives being present, conducted by his pastor, Rev. J. E. Aeschbacher, assisted by Rev. Frank Williams. Mrs. Fred Weber sang “Rest Thee, Sad Heart” and Mrs. Francis Taylor of Fremont sang “We’ll Undertand”, while Mrs. Harold Weber presided at the piano. The floral offerings were numerous and beautiful and manifested the high esteem in which the doctor was held in this, his home community. Dr. Newcom was married to Miss Alice Osterman, also of Arlington, and is survived by his beloved wife and little son, Rupert Richard, father, mother, two sisters, Mrs. Earl E. Lloyd and Mrs. Carl F. Mosche, two nephews, Olive Dale and Robert Earl Lloyd of Omaha. Besides a host of relatives and friends who mourn his early departure.
