Mrs. L. W. Caldwell passed away at the home of her son, Wm., in this city at 8:30 Sunday morning. She has been a sufferer from bronchial asthma for some twenty years and had been bedfast for the past year and a half. The funeral service was held at the Catholic church at 10 o’clock yesterday morning, Father Byersdorfer officiating, who having taken the vows of the church some six months ago. Burial was in the Blair cemetery. Mary Richardson was born in Dayton, Ohio October 23rd, 1857, so was just past 68 years of age. Her people moved to Missouri and later to Keokuk, Ia., where she was united in marriage to L. W. Caldwell in 1876. Mr. Caldwell sold the first electric light plant here and installed it and ran it for several years. He was in San Francisco at the time of the great earthquake and was killed, nothing ever having been heard of or from him since that time. Mrs. Caldwell had made her home with her only son, Wm., since his marriage. George Haller and wife were up from Omaha to attend the funeral service, Mrs. Haller being a niece of the deceased, her mother being a sister of L. W. Caldwell. She leaves a sister, Mrs. Rose Gaskie of Maywood, Mo., a brother in Oklahoma and another brother in California.
