Gaylord, Edward E. 12/6/1925 16 Dec., 1925 - The Pilot E. E. Gaylord, whose death was mentioned in these columns last week was born at Norfolk, Connecticut, November 12, 1866 and passed away at his home here December 6, 1925, making his age 59 years and 24 days. He was the son of Mr. and Mr. Edward L. Gaylord of Norfolk, Conn. He grew to manhood in this vicinity. He was united in marriage to Miss Nellie Huggins of Sheffield, Mass., on April 15, 1896. To this union there were born four children, Sarah, a daughter died in infancy, Fred, Mabel and Everett the other children survive. In 1900 Mr. and Mrs. Gaylord came west and located at Blair. Two years later they moved to a farm northwest of Herman where they resided for ten years. In 1912 they came to Herman purchasing the home in which they have lived ever since. While a young man he united with the Congregational church but after his removal to Herman he united with the Methodist church here at the same time his children were converted and received into membership. He became a member of Landmark Lodge No. 222 A. F. and A. M. He served as a Junior Deacon, Junior Warden, Senior Warden and was chosen master of the lodge in 1917. He was also a member of Mackay Chapter Royal Arch Masons at Tekamah. Mr. Gaylord had suffered several paralytic strokes within the last two years and for several weeks before his death he had become almost helpless. The funeral services were held at the Methodist church Thursday afternoon at 1:30 o’clock, Rev. W. Bonham of Omaha and Rev. T. J. Reese, pastor of the Herman Baptist church, officiating.
