Served As Herman Legion Commander

Harold A. Jensen, 80, of Blair, died Sunday, Aug. 7, 2011, at The Golden Living Center in Tekamah.

Services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at the Herman Legion Hall in Herman. Visitation will begin at 1 p.m. Thursday at Campbell-Aman Funeral Home, with family receiving friends from 6 to 8 p.m.

Harold Albert "Hal" Jensen was born Nov. 11, 1930, in Blair, to Albert T. and Anna E. (Nelson) Jensen. He was baptized and confirmed at Emmaus Lutheran Church in Kennard. He attended country schools and graduated from Blair High in 1948. He enlisted in the United States Navy Seabees and served from 1948 to 1952. He lived and worked in Los Angeles and Fresno, Calif., for 46 years and returned to live in Blair in 1998 to be close to family and friends.

He was most proud of his involvement with the Herman American Legion, assisting with the fundraising and the Blair Veterans Memorial and he enjoyed the camaraderie of working with fellow Legion members and the auxiliary and serving as Legion commander.

He is survived by his son, Ron Jensen of Clovis, Calif.; daughter, Jacqui, of Tucson, Ariz.; grandchildren, Ron Jensen II of Colorado Springs, Colo., David Jensen of Omaha, Joshua and Amanda of Fresno, Calif., Erik Sorenson of Yuma, Ariz.; five great-grandchildren; sisters and brother-in-law, Phyllis and Bruce Coryell of Blair and Corinne Anderson of Woodville, Ohio; brother and sister-in-law, Robert and Sherry Jensen of Solvang, Calif.; loving friend, Rosemarie Brummer of Blair; several nieces, nephews, cousins, friends; and his favorite aunt, Ella Rahlfs of Blair.

He was preceded in death by his son, James Jensen; wives Opal and Mary; and his brother, James Mortensen.
