AUTO VICTIM FUNERAL

Mrs. A. B. Hitchman Laid to Rest Beside Remains of Son

The funeral of Mrs A. B. Hitchman, who met her death in an auto accident at DeSoto last Wednesday while on her way to Omaha with a party of lady friends, was held from the Episcopal church last Friday afternoon, and was attended by a large number of sympathizing friends who by their presence and words of comfort hoped to allay in a measure the sorrow of the grief stricken husband, son and relatives.

Hazel Reid was born at Corsicana, Texas on November 17, 1886, and was married to Alec B. Hitchman January 18, 1909 at Tampico, Mexico. The family came to Blair several years ago, Mr. Hitchman being interested, with his brothers, in the Farmers State Bank and other local enterprises. Besides the husband and son, there are left to mourn the untimely death of Mrs. Hitchman her parents, Mr. and Mrs. John M. Reid of Cruz, Mexico, one brother, Joe, also of Cruz, and three sisters, Mrs. Vaughan of Sequin, Texas, Mrs. Stanley Hine of Tampico,Mexico, and Miss Laura Reid who makes her home here.

The services were in charge of Rev. C. D. Hering, and his discourse was impressive and beautiful. The family were active members of the Episcopal church and the words of the pastor came from a heart filled with sympathy and love from a close acquaintance with the life of the deceased.

Sincerest sympathy for the bereaved ones is expressed on every hand. Mrs. Hitchman was the possessor of a lovable disposition, and her popularity among the women of her acquaintance was as spontaneous as it was deserved. She will long be remembered for her many charities and kind deeds, and will be greatly missed by all who had the pleasure of her acquaintance.

The remains were laid to rest in the Blair cemetery beside those of her eldest son who only recently passed away.

Note: in those years, there was much moving of burials. She is now buried in Texas, as is her eldest son.
